Bio...
I trained for 3 years at the Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education (IATE), a fully accredited Higher Education College with an excellent reputation in the field. IATE has over 30 years of experience in training Counsellors and Psychotherapists and is a full member of the UKCP, BACP, and HCPC. IATE is also affiliated with the internationally acclaimed Centre for Child Mental Health.
Throughout my training, I was required to be in my own therapy.
As a practising counsellor, I attend regular clinical supervision as well as varied, continual professional development.
I am also a qualified Art & Photography teacher with over 20 years of experience working with young people. My passion for working with both young people and the arts led to my interest in working with the arts therapeutically. During my teaching career, I experienced working in both local comprehensive and private international school environments. Seeking to help address the mental health needs of young people as well as support their parents and carers, I decided to retrain as a counsellor for teenagers.
Having an integrative approach allows me to weave in a wide range of developmental theories and neuroscience, which in turn enhances and underlines the fundamental elements of my work; creative-arts based, relational and client-led.
